He also urged the government to convene an all-parties conference to address the Balochistan issue, adding that the government should take measures to minimise “foreign involvement” in the province. He said the government should also expose those trying to destabilise Balochistan, claiming that India had been carrying out heinous activities in the province.
Army, Political Leadership alone cannot find solution to problems facing the country: Ch. Shujaat Hussain
Labels: Baluchistan, Ch. Shujaat Hussain, English News, FATA, PML, PML-QISLAMABAD: PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said army and political leadership alone can not find solution to the problems facing the country adding the whole nation will have to make efforts together to extricate the country from the crisis.
He said this while addressing a national seminar held here Wednesday under title "the current crisis of Pakistan and its solution".
He regretted certain elements of myopic thinking had always been leveling charges of treason against the leadership of NWFP and Balochistan in every regime. The then rulers had registered cases as well. Indulging in any blame game against each other and inviting foreign forces to interfere in the internal affairs of the country was not correct in any way, he added.
External interference in our affairs had crossed all the limits and despite this we should evolve policies in accordance with the aspirations of people these provinces, he stressed. In 2004 when the terrorist activities started I being prime minister convened national conference in the first week of July and decisions were taken with full consensus and time frame for implementation of these decisions was also set. Bur after my departure no focus was placed on implementation of these decisions, he regretted.
"We will have to expose all those elements who are maligning Islam in the world", he stressed. We should condemn those who were talking of enforcement of Islamic order through use of force, he added.
Elected government and parliament failed to resolve judicial crisis, he said adding army chief ultimately had to intervene in the matter and he played a positive role in this regard. Then this issue was resolved and country averted a major crisis, he remarked.
A national conference be convened to address the problems of FATA and Balochistan, he stressed. This crisis was not concern of only an individual or party. This national conference should continue unless a solution was found out and timeframe for its implementation was worked out, he demanded.
"We should not provide any opportunity to any one to target the spirit of patriotism of the army, he urged.
