ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain announced on Wednesday that his party has dropped its objections to a parliamentary committee to be formed to evolve consensus on constitutional amendments and decided to join it.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan met Chaudhry Shujaat at latter’s residence to persuade him to join the committee. He told the PML-Q chief that all issues of national importance would be addressed by the committee in consultation with major political parties and groups.

The minister said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and the Pakistan People’s Party had authorised him to meet the PML-Q leadership because the government was following a policy of reconciliation and wanted to meet the challenges confronted by the country with the support of all political forces.

PML-Q’s secretary general Mushahid Hussain Sayed, its Punjab chief Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Leader of the Opposition in Senate Wasim Sajjad attended the meeting and assured the minister that their party would support the government on all national issues.

The PML-Q decided not to join the committee after Leader of the House in Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari piloted a resolution without consulting it.

LAHORE - PML-Q Punjab President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has asked the United States to handover drone technology to Pakistan, saying Indian domination in the region would not be accepted at any cost.
Talking to media men after holding talks with US senators delegation including Jeanne Shaheen, Kay Hagan, Mark Begich, Mark Udall and Thomas R Carper here on Monday at his residence, former Chief Minister Punjab said that the delegation has been told that there will be no compromise over Pakistan’s integrity and sovereignty. He said that the PML-Q leadership asked the US delegation to allocate substantial package for IDPs. “The US delegation has been told that if they want to see Pakistan successful in war on terror then hearts and minds of people should be won,” he added. He demanded the US government immediate release of Dr Aafia Sidique imprisoned in American jail for taking nothing-illegal step.
He said the government understood better the ground realities than America and the US government should provide drone technology to Pakistan instead of carrying out drone attacks inside Pakistan.
Talking about Swat operation, he said that it is our own issue and there was insurgency in the name of Islam and All Parties Conference supported it. He said the terrorists were demoralizing Islam by showing rigidity in religion, cutting throats of men, beating women and practicing nefarious activities in Malakand and troubled Swat.
Pervaiz Elahi said that the lingering issue of Kashmir was also discussed and PML-Q has recalled the statement of US President Barack Obama on Kashmir issue.
He said that the Indian domination would not be acceptable in the region.
“We are able to distinguish our friends and enemies so there is no need to dictate us in our national policies and issues.”

ISLAMABAD: PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday said the military operation in the Malakand Division aimed at saving the Pakistan’s territorial integrity and his party fully backed it.

“Pakistan is passing through a critical juncture today. During the recent All Parties Conference (APC), some politicians tried to adopt a double policy on the operation. I think those politicians should shun such tendencies, as these would serve no purpose for the country’s cause,” Shujaat said this while talking to the IDPs at the relief camps established at Mardan and Takhtbhai prior to distributing the relief goods among the affected people.

Shujaat said the entire nation was indebted to the inhabitants of Swat and Malakand who had rendered valuable sacrifices to save the entire nation from the menace of terrorism. “These IDPs can go anywhere they wish as the entire country is their home and they do not need any passport to do so. You have made sacrifices for the people of Pakistan and have left your homes and valuables. You are living here in the open in such harsh conditions and we would remember your sacrifices,” he added.

PML-Q Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain Syed called for making the distribution of relief goods among the affectees transparent, saying that such an important task should have been given priority.

PML-Q central leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Monday said the US will have to revise its policy keeping in mind ground realities and aspirations of the people if it wanted to succeed in the war against terror.

He was briefing media about his meeting with US Senators. Pervaiz said that he had asked the US to handover drone technology to Pakistan, saying Indian domination in the region would not be accepted at any cost. He said the US delegation was told that there will be no compromise on Pakistan’s integrity and sovereignty.

The US delegation consisted of Jeanne Shaheen, Kay Hagan, Mark Begich, Mark Udall and Thomas R Carper. US Consulate Officer in Lahore Bryn D Hunt, Faisal Saleh Hayat, Senator SM Zafar, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheer was also present there.

He said the PML-Q leadership had asked the US delegation to allocate a substantial package for IDPs, adding nearly 1.3 million people had been displaced. He claimed that the he had also discussed the issue of Pakistan’s nuclear assets during his meeting with US senators.

The PML-Q leader said that the US delegation told us that the apprehensions of PML-Q were well-founded and that the US was reviewing policy. He said that the US delegation has been asked to keep in mind ground realities.

Pervaiz said the Kashmir issue was also discussed and the PML-Q had recalled the statement of US President Barack Obama on Kashmir issue. He said the Indian domination would not be accepted. PML-Q leader said that the issue of Dr Aafia Saddique was also discussed in the meeting and the PML-Q asked for her safe return to Pakistan. Talking on Swat operation, the veteran politician said that it was our own issue and there was insurgency in the name of Islam and the All Parties Conference had supported it.

Lahore, May 24 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Qaid (PML-Q) Chief Chaudhury Shujaat Hussain has blamed India for the Swat military operation.

Addressing a press conference here, Hussain called India as ‘conspirator-in-chief’ of the Swat operation, and asked the entire nation to stand behind the armed forces.

“The armed forces are fighting a war for the survival of the country, and they must be supported. India is the conspirator-in-chief. Army is fighting an insurgency orchestrated by India. The situation demands national unity and it must be reflected in every one’s words and actions”, The Nation quoted Hussain, as saying.

Referring to the ’stringed’ US aid that asks Pakistan to maintain certain benchmarks, Hussain said conditions linked to aid like accepting the Indian nuclear hegemony and compromising on national interest must be rejected by Islamabad.

He also urged the government to start preparing a comprehensive reconstruction plan for the thousands of people who have been displaced in the Swat Valley due to the military operation to facilitate their return. (ANI)




LAHORE: Nukes are national asset and the nation will not accept any compromise on Pakistan’s nuclear programme at any cost, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Shujaat Hussain said on Friday.

Talking to reporters during his visit to the residence of martyred Major Abid Majeed who laid down his life during the military operation in Swat, he said, “The nation can endure poverty and hunger but cannot tolerate any compromise on nuclear assets.” According to APP news agency, he said protection of atomic arsenal was the responsibility of every Pakistani, and any condition jeopardising nuclear assets would not be accepted even if an aid of $100 billion was offered.

He said the government and its allied parties should clear their position in this regard and tell the United States categorically that Pakistan’s nuclear programme was completely secure.

Regarding the Swat situation, Shujaat said the country was passing through a critical juncture, and all parties should set aside their political differences and unite for the country. He said those not supporting the military offensive against the Taliban lacked national thinking, Online reported. He said the PML-Q would announce its strategy with regards to the Swat operation later.

Shujaat said the internally displaced persons (IDPs) were unfortunately facing a shortage of food. He said they should not be called refugees because they were living in their own country. He urged the nation to help the IDPs whole-heartedly because they had sacrificed for Pakistan’s better future. Our priority should be national interest instead of personal gains, he said, adding that we could overcome the current crises through joint efforts.

He said he had proposed to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to call an all-parties conference on the Balochistan issue.

LAHORE: President Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain has said that there is no need to convene another All Party Conference on Swat operation and those who are not supporting military offensive against militants lack national thinking.

Talibanization was increasing and we have to set aside differences and get united in the current circumstances, he said this while talking to media men on Friday after condoling with family of Major Abid who embraced Shahdat in operation Rahe-e-Rast.

The President PML-Q went on to say his Party would announce its strategy with regard to Swat operation.

Answering to a question, the President PML-Q said, unfortunately internally displaced people are facing food shortage and other inconvenience in their own homes and they should not be called as refuges because they are living in their homes.

He asked the nation to help IDPs whole-heartedly because they have sacrificed for Pakistan’s better future. Our priority should be national interest instead of personnel, he said. We can overcome current crises through joint efforts, Shujaat said. He said the nation is helping IDPs more than Government. We have to get united to steer country out of crises, he urged.

When asked about Balochistan, he said, the issue of Balochistan should be resolved immediately and it is turning bad to worse with each passing day. We have proposed an APC on Balochistan issue and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has promised to convene, he said.

President PML-Q Ch. Shujaat Hussain when asked about Pakistan’s nukes said the nuclear arsenal in safe hands. No one can take over Pakistan, he said.

ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has urged the formation of a comprehensive strategy to help IDPs and suggested to halt all political activities as this is not an appropriate time for politics.

Presiding over a high level meeting held here at his residence in connection with the provision of assistance to IDPs, President PML-Q said that there is dire need of joint efforts to help affected people.

The meeting was attended by Secretary General PML-Q Mushahid Hussain, Chairman Relief Committee Engineer Amir Muqam, Gohar Ayub Khan, Syed Dilawar Abbas, Senator Gulshan Saeed, Dr. Khalid Ranjha, Aleem Adil Sheikh, Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Imtiaz Ranjha, Mrs. Farrakh Khan, Riffat Sarwar, Ajmal Wazir and other party’s leaders.

The meeting also decided that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Syed Mushahid Hussain and other party leaders would visit different camps in the next week and would also distribute relief aid among affected people.

The meeting was also informed that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has held a meeting with the district Nazims of Punjab and it was decided that all the relief goods would be sent through the relief fund.

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on the occasion said that the provision of help to IDPs should be top priority and directed party workers to use all their resources in this regard.

Renowned politician of Sindh Rasool Buksh Palejo met with President PML-Q at his residence and discussed country’s current political situation in detail.

Rasool Buksh Palejo while praising the services of Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is doing politics on the same lines.

Chaudhry Shujjat Hussain on the occasion said that our politics is based on serving people of the country and not for any slot and to come into power. He also praised the political services of Rasool Buksh Palejo and said the youths should take benefit of the experiences of such politicians.
