Lahore (06 October 2011) The Republic of Tajikistan Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Zubaydullo N. Zubaydov today called on Chaudhry Parvez Elahi the senior central leader of the Pakistan Muslim League and senior federal minister for Industries & Defence Production in Islamabad. In the meeting matter relating to promotion of trade and defence ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan were discussed among other issues of bilateral interest. Pakistan’s senior federal minister said that the present democratically elected government of Pakistan gave great importance to relations with the Central Asian States. Continuously exploring avenues of mutual cooperation with the Central Asian States is one of our top priorities, he said. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi further said that Pakistan greatly valued its relations with Tajikistan and the two countries could benefit from each other’s experiences and resources. Calling the relations between the peoples of Pakistan and Tajikistan as centuries old, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that they also shared a common religious and cultural heritage. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi offered the Tajik envoy free training in Pakistan to Tajik nationals in manufacturing of military uniforms. The Tajik envoy to Pakistan in his comments called Pakistan an important Islamic Nuclear State and said that Pakistan was acknowledged worldwide for its extra ordinary defence production prowess. The Tajik envoy to Pakistan expressed his country’s desire to further strengthen trade and defence relations with Pakistan. He said that Tajik and Pakistanis were each other’s great well wishers and furthering strong relations between the two countries was much required. He said that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi had accepted the Tajik government’s invitation to visit the Central Asian Republic.
