Lahore (18 September 2011) Chaudhry Parvez Elahi the senior central leader of the Pakistan Muslim League and senior federal minister has said may the rest of Punjab not encounter the devastating effects of Dengue virus the way Lahore has had to. Had Shahbaz Sharif not destroyed the local government system in Punjab the dengue patients would not be dying on hospital steps or outside the hospitals? If the LG system was in place there would have been hundred elected public representatives to combat the killer mosquito instead of merely one DCO. Today in a jam packed Lahore State Guest House Hall and amid thunderous applause Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that as the Punjab Chief Minister he had always relied on local government for understanding public issues and finding their solutions. He said that as Punjab Chief Minister his doors remained open for councilors who were placed in high esteem during his government whereas today it was the other way round and now even the ministers and assembly members had to wait for many months to get the present chief minister’s audience. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that Pakistan Muslim League had always remained fully in touch with public problems. He claimed that his party’s focus had always been on their quick and effective resolution. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi further said that the reason why the Pakistan Muslim League got more votes than the N-League in 2008 election from Punjab was due to his government’s pro people policies and the constructive role played by the local government He blamed the N-League for destabilizing and destroying public system and institutions. He said that doctors, teachers and people from all walks of life had been forced to come out in protest time and again against Shahbaz Sharif’s. He said that Shahbaz Sharif had done nothing in Punjab except hijack ownership of initiatives taken by the previous Pakistan Muslim League government in Punjab. He claimed that not a single new bed had been added to Punjab government’s hospitals since 2008. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi lauded the Pakistan Muslim League nazims and naib nazims for staying loyal with their party despite temptations and trials.
