Lahore: 04 September, 2001: Ch. Parvez Elahi, senior central leader of Pakistan Muslim League and senior federal minister has that most of the work on Lahore ring road had been accomplished by his government and Punjab’s self tiled Khadim-e-Ala was deceiving the public by putting up his own name plate on the mega project. Shahbaz administration is taking credit for the Lahore ring road project when it has only done its paint job and put up decorative plants. This is nothing new on Shahbaz Sharif’s part as he has been showing our projects without any qualms of conscience as his own since 2008. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi expressed these views while talking to the media at outside the house of a PML worker Saleem Chattha today there he had gone to condole the death of his elder brother. He called the sincere and old workers the party’s biggest asset.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that Lahore ring road was planned by his government and reputed international experts were invited to finalize its design and construction details. He said that the project was planned by his government keeping the future traffic requirements of Lahore’s fast growing population and satellite technology was also employed for its design development. He said that his government had allocated the required funds for land acquisition and construction of the project and at no stage were the people force to vacate their shops, houses and other properties by brute force including the use of gun and danda. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that all interchanges were ready and the construction work was in final phase on Lahore ring road by the end of his government’s term in 2007. He said that Shahbaz Sharif was similarly trying to take credit for the construction of Lahore-Kasur road whereas his government had only painted the road fence. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi flayed Shahbaz Sharif for spending billions of public rupees on media campaigns meant to claim ownership of work that had not been done by his government. He said that the time was fast approaching when Shahbaz Sharif could have to answer for all his administrative and financial wrong doings.
