Mushahid lauds Christians national role

Islamabad—Christians are celebrating Easter today. PML Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed says Pakistani Christians played prominent role in defence, education, and health sectors.

“Even our Christians brethren played a key role in Pakistan Movement and we have special regards for them. PML has a tradition of standing for the rights of the minorities in line with the teachings of Islam as highlighted by, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, and Allama Mohammed Iqbal in this regard,” Mushahid said while addressing a special ceremony here held to celebrate Easter. A large number of Christians had gathered to celebrate Easter. Mushahid Hussain Sayed, along with his party leaders, MNA Akram Masih Gill, former Minister for Minorities Col (R) SK Tressler, and others, cut a cake to mark the Easter.

Ambassador of Romania Ion Emilian also addressed the gathering and conveyed to Pakistani Christians Romania’s warm felicitations on the eve of Easter. Political Secretary of the US Consulate Andrei M Cotton conveyed congratulations to the Christian community on the eve of Easter on behalf of the US people .Former Minister for Minorities Col (R) SK Tressler said Jesus Christ called for love and peace among all people.

He said all the believers had faith that Jesus Christ would re-emerge one day and he would ensure justice across the globe. Revered Father Rehmat Hukemdad, Priest Pervaiz and other Christian leaders also spoke on the occasion.
