The President of India’s Congress Party Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has thanked Former Prime Minister and President of Pakistan Muslim League, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for his message of congratulations on the recent Congress victory in the Indian Election. In her letter, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi stated that “Our Party and Government remain committed to strengthening people-to-people contacts and bilateral cooperation between our two countries”.
In her letter, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi also fondly recalled her meeting with Chaudhry Shujat Hussain in 2005, when Chaudhry Shujat Hussain led a high powered PML delegation to India. This was the first time in the history of Pakistan-India relation’s that a ruling party from Pakistan had visited India on the invitation of India’s ruling party.
