Former Punjab Agriculture Minister Arshed Khan Lodhi has said only PML-Q is voicing for the rights of farmers and the incumbent PML-N government must take practical measures to address their issues.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, Lodhi while talking to a group of party members said Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was representing the farmer community by calling the attention of rulers towards their grievances. He said the rulers must realise that by launching any expensive publicity campaign and by transferring or suspending officials, they did no do service to the poor farmers who had been left high and dry by the Punjab government.
The former provincial minister said that humiliation of farmers during the wheat procurement campaign continued unchecked whereas the rulers were making tall claims of good governance.
He said rather than indulging in criticism for the sake of criticism, the PML-N leaders should strive to resolve the issues of the farmers. He alleged the PML-N leaders were only trying to make political gains by making tall claims of good governance.
