PPP, PML-Q decide to expand

coalition to provinces


ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and President Asif Ali Zardari have agreed to expand the coalition government to other parts of the country, and under the agreement three PML-Q nominees would be adjusted in the Sindh cabinet soon. A source told Pakistan Today that Shehryar Mehr would be made a provincial minister while Halim Adil Shaikh and Aijaz Shah Shirazi would be made advisers in Sindh. The PML-Q would also be given two ministries in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and under the agreement, Mirza Hussain and Bashir Ahmed would be made ministers in the GB government. Ahmed is currently leader of the opposition in the GB Assembly.
Later, Shujaat called on Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and shared with him details of his meeting with President Zardari. Gilani said that the country needed political stability in order to ensure socio-economic development. He said that external challenges facing the country also required that political forces across party lines developed consensus and put up a united front against these challenges. The prime minister said that the government tried to present a balanced budget in tight economic conditions. He said that it would welcome suggestions from the opposition. The PML-Q chief assured Gilani that his party would contribute positively to the debate on budget and support the government in facing the challenges.

Solidarity with Moonis Elahi


LAHORE–PML-Q Youth Wing Punjab members belonging to all the provincial district head quarters gathered in Lahore on Thursday stage protest rally from PML House to Lahore Press Club.
The rally was organized to express solidarity with Moonis Elahi senior Pakistan Muslim League Leader.
The rally participants were carrying banners and placards slogans against ‘his political victimization.’ The Youth Wing Punjab Zahid Iqbal Chaudhry addressed the rally outside the Lahore Press Club. In his speech Zahid Iqbal Chaudhry condemned ‘the unfair and prejudicial conduct of the FIA and its deliberate attempts at framing Moonis Elahi in a false case.’
Zahid Iqbal said that keeping Moonis Elahi under detention despite the prosecution witnesses’ denial of making any statement against him was a clear evidence of political victimization.
The rally was participated by Ahmad Faran Khan, Bilal Mustafa Sherazi, Ahmad Nadeem Gujjar and others.

PML-Q not to mess up budget session: Zaheer

LAHORE - PML-Q top leadership’s reconciliatory efforts have closed the possibilities of midterm polls and Punjab government is victimising the party leaders and workers on political basis.
Talking to the newsmen at Muslim League House on Monday after chairing party’s organisational meeting, Chaudhary Zaheer-ud-Din, general secretary PML-Q Punjab, maintained that the statements of Hamesh Khan and Sheikh Haris and his sons had exposed the personal vendetta of the PML-N leadership against PML-Q leaders and workers, while Moonis Elahi was also a victim of political victimisation.
To a query, Zaheer said that opposition would not repeat the conduct of the PML-N in the upcoming budget session of Punjab Assembly. However, he added that opposition would play its proactive role to point out the shortcomings in the forthcoming provincial budget.
